Who is Sam Applebaum?

Here's Sam Applebaum as he appeared with the Omaha All-City Music Festival, winter, 1967.  The young lady in the center of the photo is our own Lea Karpman, who currently plays first violin in the SOMA orchestra.

Farewells:
The 2012-2013 season marked the passing of three of SOMA's dedicated board members.
Obituary

Ed Appel on July 27, 2012.  For many years, Ed was synonymous with SOMA.  He found the music, found a conductor, found the soloists and kept the orchestra going.

Freda Garnett on January 19, 2013.  Freda was the wonderful nudge who kept asking "when are we having another concert?" and proceeded to recruit the players to make it happen.
Obituary

Zita Friedland  on April 10, 2013 (her 76th birthday).  Zita not only kept the books, but was a superlative performer as well.  Her last piano solo with SOMA was in 2008 when she played Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20.  She even filled in the missing string bass parts.

Obituary

Anne Lieberson on January 25, 2015 at the age of 86.  Anne was a long time concert mistress of the SOMA orchestra, as well as a teacher and mentor to young New Jersey violinists.  Obituary

Kent Weisert on October 21, 2015, flutist with SOMA, remembered by Dr. Adrienne Pavur as a dear friend and wonderful musician.  Obituary
